Why do dental implants need two visits?

On the first visit we place the implants. They then need 3 to 6 months to fully heal and integrate with the jawbone. On the second visit we fit the permanent crowns. This is the safe, ethical approach: it makes sure your implants last a lifetime, not just a year or two.

Why can't I get permanent teeth immediately after implants?

Implants need a healing period, usually 3 to 6 months, to integrate with the jawbone. Some clinics offer fixed teeth in 24 hours, but if the bone and implant stability aren't suitable, this can increase the risk of problems or implant failure. We prefer the safer long-term approach: let the implants heal first, then place the permanent teeth.

Will I go home without teeth after the first visit?

No. We provide temporary teeth made from your jaw impressions. Depending on your case, they can be fixed or removable.

Can I come back later than 6 months for my second visit?

It depends on how many implants you need and whether extra procedures are required. On average it takes 1 to 3 hours. Full-mouth cases can take longer.

In most cases where bone loss is not severe, yes. It depends on your case, which is why we review your X-rays or photos first to prepare a personalized treatment plan.

What is a sinus lift?

When a back tooth has been missing for a long time, the bone in that area shrinks and the sinus drops lower. To place an implant there, the surgeon lifts the sinus, adds bone graft, and then places the implant. A sinus lift does not affect your face shape.

Do I need X-rays from my dentist back home?

No, we take them at our dental center when you arrive. If you already have a panoramic X-ray, sending it to us helps us prepare a more accurate treatment plan.

Will the procedure be painful?

No. Treatment is done under local anesthesia. We first numb the gum with a cream, then apply local anesthesia, and the doctor makes sure you are completely numb before starting.

Can I be put to sleep for the procedure?

For standard dental treatment our oral surgeon does not recommend general anesthesia, as it carries unnecessary risk for a procedure of this size. Sedation is available as an option for an additional fee.

We offer four implant brands: Osstem (Korea), Notch (Germany), Hiossen (USA), and Straumann (Switzerland), including the Straumann SLA, SLActive, and BLX lines. All are well-established brands and all carry our lifetime warranty. Because these brands are widely used, dentists in your home country will be familiar with them if you ever need help locally.

Why do some implants cost more than others?

Price mainly reflects how long a brand has been established and how much research sits behind it. Straumann is the oldest implant brand and has one of the lowest failure rates statistically, which is why it costs more. Every brand we use is reliable and backed by our lifetime warranty.

Am I too old for dental implants?

Age is not the deciding factor; bone quality is. Send us X-rays or photos of your upper and lower jaw and our oral surgeon will assess your case in a free consultation.

Are clip-on (snap-on) dentures as good as fixed implants?

Clip-on teeth are removable and usually a less stable, shorter-term solution. Fixed teeth on implants are attached to the jawbone, feel more natural, give stronger chewing ability, and stay fixed in your mouth.

What's the difference between veneers and crowns?

Veneers are thin shells placed on the front surface of the tooth and are only suitable for patients with a good bite and well-aligned teeth. Crowns cover the whole tooth, 360 degrees. Once you send us photos, we can tell you which one suits you.

What are your crowns made of?

Our crowns have a zirconium core for strength, layered with E-max ceramic on the outside for a natural, translucent look like real teeth. We also offer monolithic zirconium crowns, which are very strong but less translucent.

Zirconium vs porcelain crowns: which is better?

Porcelain crowns have a metal core: durable, but less natural-looking, and the metal can sometimes cause odor or gum problems over time. Zirconium is metal-free, biocompatible, gentle on the gums, and more aesthetic, which is why we recommend it.

Will my crowns stain from coffee or smoking?

No. Zirconium crowns layered with E-max are stain-resistant and do not change color from coffee or smoking.

What is a dental bridge?

A bridge is usually three crowns joined together to replace one missing tooth. The two healthy teeth on either side are crowned, and the middle crown fills the gap. For one missing tooth a bridge can be as durable as an implant; for two or more missing teeth in a row, we usually recommend implants.

After the treatment is finished, we keep you for a few extra days to test your new teeth: eating, biting, and smiling. We want to make sure everything is 100% before you fly home.

It depends on your treatment. Implant visits can be as short as 4 nights, and crown treatments usually need around 8 nights, since our lab takes several working days to craft multi-layered crowns. You will get an exact plan after your consultation.
